A little bit about me

Rodrick C. Johnson is a dedicated literacy coach, CEO, and founder of Energized Educator. With a deep-seated passion for reshaping educational spaces, Rodrick has spent over eight years honing strategies that empower educators and uplift urban youth, particularly Black boys, through culturally attuned behavior support and restorative practices. Driven by the belief that every educator can unlock “superpowers” within their classrooms, Rodrick’s work is about sparking lasting, positive transformations in school communities.

Fantastic! This was a fantastic use of training time, and I enjoyed the lessons about changing the narrative.

I felt like my ideas were heard and valued.

I love how teachers gave real experiences of the interactions they had with their class, such as what they did wrong versus right with their class. I could learn from their experiences to use in the future for myself. I could see how my use of power with students, instead of power over will work as time goes. 

I would say that practicing my power with students will help me be more comfortable around students which can help me teach better. Lastly, I don’t think there was anything that needed to be adjusted.

I think the whole session was great!

I thought this was all very helpful. As a brand new high school teacher with minimal training, this was much needed. Keep doing what you’re doing!

I am a principal can I book this call for a teacher?

Yes, after booking the call you will be sent a calendar invite to book. When you enter the details, just use the contact information for that teacher that is benefiting from this planning session.

 

What if I can’t make the call at the scheduled time?

If you need to reschedule, please contact us at least 24 hours before your scheduled time, and we’ll be happy to find an alternative slot. If you miss the call without prior notice, we’ll work with you to reschedule as soon as possible.

What makes your approach different from other behavior management solutions?

Unlike generic, one-size-fits-all strategies, my approach is rooted in understanding the unique needs of your classroom. Using my 3R Method (Respect, Reflect, Reengage), I focus on addressing behavior in a way that promotes long-term positive change. My solutions are culturally responsive and take into account the real-world challenges educators face in urban settings, particularly with Black boys.

While this call is one-on-one, the strategies we develop can be scaled to support your entire team or school. I offer group coaching sessions and training that can help educators collaborate on creating school-wide behavior management systems based on the principles we discuss during the call.
